When you know it’s love

Photo taken at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. I hope they are okay with this.

You think it might be love when you travel the world together, dive from the tallest cliffs hand in hand, and hike across the most dangerous mountains

But you know it’s love when they slow their pace so they can stay right beside you wherever you go

You think it might be love when you tell each other jokes and make each other laugh

But you know it’s love when they listen to the five words you slowly utter out and treat those words as the most precious melody they have ever heard

You think it might be love when you share hobbies and the same bucket list you cross off year after year

But you know it’s love when those are out the door and all you need is to feel safe with their quiet warmth next to you

You think it might be love when you marvel at the beauty of things together

But you know it’s love when they illustrate what has become too fuzzy to see, painting the picture with prose and being your eyes for you

You think it might be love when you dazzle as the most attractive pair in the room and passersby tell you how well you complement one another

But you know it’s love when you are Dave and Leslie, easily skimmed over at the corner of an art exhibit, yet teaching the girl with the camera standing a little off to your side how to really love
